About Me
Rebecca Gibian is an international freelance journalist and author. Her work has appeared in The Associated Press, The Guardian, The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Washington Post, VICE, PRI’s The World, among others. Her reporting focuses on women nationally and internationally and she has reported from countries including Iraq, South Africa, and Indonesia.
Her first book, The RBG Way: The Secrets of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Success, was published November 12, 2019. It looks at tangible lessons we can all learn from Justice Ginsburg and apply to our own lives.
She is also a Community Team member of The Everyday Projects, a nonprofit dedicated to combating harmful misperceptions and rising above persistent inequality. She is one of the co-producers of GIRL PROBLEMS, an ongoing podcast series focused on women’s empowerment and sisterhood around the globe (currently being reported & written). Rebecca is a communications consultant and manager for various nonprofits, including the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization and San Francisco Transit Riders. Previously, Rebecca was a producer for VICE News Tonight. She has also worked as a copy editor for VOX Creative and has also been a fact checker and researcher for the team as well.
Before, she was the News Editor at InsideHook, a Staff Adviser at the University of Southern California Annenberg’s Media Center, the Social Media Editor at the Pulitzer Center, and a News Team reporter at Bush Radio. Rebecca holds a Master of Science in Journalism from USC, where she was a Dean’s Scholar, a student fellow for Pulitzer Center, the Senior News Editor for Neon Tommy and a Producer for Annenberg Radio News. She is also a graduate of Guilford College, where she was Managing Editor and Editor in Chief of The Guilfordian. She is the winner of the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Award and multiple Los Angeles Press Club awards.
